Mission of the Month for October
Operation Christmas Child

After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan's Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.

Samaritan’s Purse has more than Operation Christmas Child (Shoebox Gifts) for their focus. Other areas that they are concerned with are Women’s Programs, Construction Projects, U.S. Disaster Relief, Health and Medical Ministries and Operation Heal our Patriots. Trinity has been dedicated to participating in the Operation Christmas Child Ministry for many years.

During October, Trinity will be collecting donations to help defray the cost of shipping the boxes. In the second half of October, handouts and shoeboxes will be available to start filling when the Rummage sale ends.  Trinity folks have been volunteering their time and effort for this mission with family members and Bible groups. It’s fun to fill a shoebox and watch it go to a specific country and it can even be tracked to a town or village.  Your donation of $9 will cover the shipping of 1 shoe box to a child that will be so excited to see the contents of the Christmas box. Each box will be labeled for three different age groups and either for a boy or a girl. There will be a dedication moment here at the church in November during worship to start their travel.

Debby and Wally Weber are the people to go to for questions.

Your generous donations in October will advance the Operation Christmas Child gifts and should be marked “Operation Christmas Child” and put into the offering. Thank you for helping to be the hands, feet and face of Christ to a hurting and hungry world and bring a huge smile to a child this season.

Thank you,

Peg Tinkham and The Mission Committee at Trinity UMC
